When it comes to disorders of childhood development (see left), parents are usually looking for
"
The Next Step" in caring for these conditions.  While most are not so much conditions as they are
collections of signs and symptoms, they are in fact breakdowns in the normal brain function and
neurological balance during childhood development.
While some children may have congenital abnormalities or traumas preceding their particular
syndrome, most children are relatively "normal" as far as objective medical testing is concerned.
The abnormalities will be found in other types of testing such as academic, motor, and nutritional
evaluations.  This leads us to believe that, even though there is an imbalance in brain chemistry,
these conditions are more environmentally driven.
There has been a large shift in the way children are raised at this point in time.  With the ever
increasing number of diagnoses of these conditions it is hard to blame genetics, and easier to
understand the negative impact of our children's current environment on their development.  Lack of
physical activity, video games/computers, poor/refined diets, television, and absentee parenting have
become more prevalent - consistent with the sharp rise in diagnoses.
While medications may provide relief of the signs and symptoms of these conditions, they do not
truly address the underlying environmental issues.  More and more, parents are looking for
alternative ways to affect these problems with lasting results through physical, nutritional and
academic approaches.
 At
Hampton Chiropractic & Wellness Center we understand the need for alternative treatments
for these sensitive issues.  That is why we have designed "
The Next Step" program for childhood
development.  This is a multi-system approach to positively affecting brain function through the
following methods:
Functional Nutrition- to address metabolic health and fuel delivery, Chiropractic
Neurology- for neurological and structural balance, Interactive Metronome training - for focus,
attention, timing, and coordination.  Other adjunctive procedures and home treatments will be given
based on individual needs.
See below for information to contact us should you have any questions, or if you would like to set
an appointment for consultation to take "
The Next Step".
